“For I will speak to you in a parable. I will teach you hidden lessons from our past” (Psalms 78:2).

“Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; He did not say anything to them without using a parable. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet: ‘I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world’” (Matthew 13:34-35).
I wonder if Jesus woke up each day thinking, “which Old Testament prophecies will I fulfill today?” Or I wonder if His “to-do list” looked something like below:
Jesus to do List
*Preach the Word
*Speak in parables
*Heal some people
*Disciple the disciples
But seriously! Even His speaking in parables was predicted in the Old Testament! And Jesus was SO patient with His disciples for not getting it. When they asked why He spoke in parables, He simply and calmly explained it to them (Matthew 13). Then Matthew told us later that Jesus always spoke in parables to the crowds in order to fulfill this Old Testament prophecy (Matthew 13:34-35).
What’s on your agenda for today? Follow God. Read His Word. Encourage someone. Heal someone. Just kidding about the healing part. I’m sure Jesus prefaced all His healings with “don’t try this at home…unless you’re Peter or John or Benny Hinn or an African Pastor.” What if your to-do list had things like “talk to someone” on it? Listen to someone else. Sit with a friend. Share your God given gifts with the world. Pray.
Jesus’ life was planned out for Him and written down in the Old Testament. God has plans for you too, even today. Pray about what that might be. Then go and fulfill what He has planned for you.
