If not for God…

“Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” -1 Corinthians 6:11 NLT

Paul describes in this chapter of 1 Corinthians, about the wide variety of previous sinners make up Christians. He reminds them that if it were not for God, they would all still be living in sin.

A group of ladies I know all got together today and we heard how each lady came to know the Lord. I’m always amazed to hear how someone came to know the Lord.

Often times, they share of the person they were before they knew Christ and I stand in awe because the person standing before me usually doesn’t even resemble the “before Christ” person they’re describing. Drug addicts, adulterers, abusers, abused, Pharisees, haters if God, and often simply fakes. But that’s just it. We were all once destined for hell, but because of His saving grace, have been redeemed.

Some say they’re story is boring if they didn’t do drugs or have a dramatic outward change. However, there is never anything boring about God changing someone’s heart from wanting to please themselves to wanting to live for Him. The outward changes are a result of an inward hat change. Whether you’ve given up drugs, whether you’ve given up pride, or whether you’ve simply given up…realizing you can’t run your own life, let’s praise God for how He has saved you today. (And if you’re not sure you’re saved, don’t wait another minute. Turn to the back of this book.)

Spend some time praising and thanking God for saving you today. Also pray for some people who don’t know Him to come to saving knowledge in the Lord. Then lastly, share with someone today a bit of how God has saved you and what He saved you from. Amen!
